TOUR NO.1 City & Temple Tour

        Description : Your private guide can give you a greater insight into today's touring. The city of Chiang Mai has a wealth of beautiful and historic Buddhist Wats (temples), 36 Wats within the old city walls and many more in the surrounding countryside, and on this private tour a visit to the most fascinating Wats is made. Near the summit of Doi Suthep, a 5300 feet peak named after the hermit Sudeva who lived on the mountain's slopes for many years, is the 600 year old temple of WAT PHRATHAT DOI SUTHEP. After a drive up the mountain's winding road, the final climb to the site is via an enormous mythological Nagas (Dragon-headed serpent) staircase of 306 steps. On a clear day, there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai from the temple grounds. WAT CHEDI LUANG consist of an impressive chedi, originally built in 1411. It reached a height of over 278 feet before it was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. It now reaches a height of 196 feet. The temple also contains the city pillar. Statue in small shelters surrounding this building are the home of guardian spirits.

Itinerary : Pick up from major hotels in Chiang Mai. Visit the most five revered temples in Chiang Mai. - Wat Chedi Luang, this temple is the site of an enormous pagoda, originally 280 feet high, and which was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. At one time, Wat Chedi Luang housed the revered Emerlad Buddha image now enshrined in Bangkok's Wat Phra Kaew. One of Wat Chedi Luang's most striking architectural features is a magnificent Naga staircase adorns the chapel's front porch. - Wat Phra Singh, this temple dates from 1345 and is one of the focal point of Songkran festivities each April 13-15 when people bathe the revered Phra Phutthasihing Buddha image. The temple compound includes the lovely Lai Kham chapel with its exquisite woodcarving and northern-style murals, and a magnificent scriptural repository with striking bas relief. - Wat Suan Dok, this temple was built in 14th century Lanna Thai monarch's pleasure garden and is a favourite spot for photographers. Several of the white chedis contain ashes of Chaing Mai's former royal family. - Wat Chiang Mun, the oldest temple and was the residence of King Mengrai who founded Chaing Mai , and is noteworthy for a chedi supported by rows of elephantine buttresses, and a small ancient Buddha image, Phra Kaeo Khao. - Wat Ched Yod, this temple dates from 1458. The seven-spired square chedi was inspired by designs at Bodhagaya, the site of Buddha's Enlightenment in north India over 2,500 years ago, and was built by Lanna Thai architects after visiting the holy site.

TOUR NO.2 LOCAL COTTAGE INDUSTRIES

        Visit the famous silk and cotton cottage industries at sankampheng disctrict Borsang umbrella village teakwood carving lacqerware silverware bronzeware and celaton pottery.Borsang is known throughout Thailand as the ?Umbrella Village?. The village is situated north of Chiang Mai along the Sankhampaeng Road where it meets the Doi Saket Road about 10kms out of town.Borsang is famed for handmade parasols made from bamboo and rice paper. The village has made umbrellas for generations and the art has been handed down through a small number of families that live here and is said to have originated from a Thai Buddhist monk who learned the practice on a pilgrimage to Burma.The true beauty of the umbrellas is in the exquisite pictures and designs that decorate them. Delicately hand painted, some are works of art and they make wonderful keepsakes and gifts.

        Visit wat prathad doi suthep built by king kuena of the mengrai dynasty in a.d.1386(the most our standing landmanrk of chiangmai 3,500 feet above sea level) and the meo hill tribe village on doi pui .A stop is also made to stroll the trounds of their Majesties ? winter palace (weekends and Public holidays only) Doi Suthep is a mountain located in?Chiangmai Province,Thailand?. It is 1,676 m tall and is one of the twin peaks of a granite mountain located west of Chiang Mai. The other peak is known as?Doi Pui?and is slightly taller (1,685 m). Doi Suthep is located 15?km away from?Chiang Mai?city centre. Most of the bedrock of the mountain isgranite. The vegetation below c. 1,000 m is mostly?deciduous forest and evergreen above this height. The Doi Suthep - Doi Pui hill is part of the ?Thanon Thong Chai Range, the southernmost subrange of the?Shan Hightland system.Other high peaks of the same range are Doi Luang Chiang Dao (2,175 m), Doi Pui (1,685 m), and Doi Inthanon,the highest point in Thailand, reaching 2,565 m. The? Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple is on top of the hill. This Buddhist place of worship dates back to the year 1383 when the first chedi was built. It is an important pilgrimage spot for the devout and a legend featuring a?white elepphant is connecteed to this revered site. There are spectacular views of Chiang Mai city and its surroundings from the top of this mountain.This mountain is part of the?Doi Suthep -Pui National Park.The park was established in 1981 and has an area of 261?km2?that includes the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep temple as well as Bhubing palace, placed among flower gardens. TOUR NO 4 ELEPHANT AT WORK , ORCHID FARM AND BUTTER FLY FARM

        Meet your English-speaking guide in your hotel or guest house's lobby. Visit the magnificent Maesa Elephant Camp 30 minutes to the northwest of Chiang Mai city, which is located on the banks of a small river, where the demonstration of how trained elephants are used as working animals in teak forests is given daily. The show includes elephant bathing in the river, working in the jungle, dragging and pushing logs, and responding commands. This is your chance to enjoy an elephant ride around the camp (Elephant ride are optional!).         Visit Doi inthanond national park the highest mountain in Thailand(8,500 feet above sea level) the meo and white karen hll tribe village and Mae klang water fall ? vachirathran waterfalls.The geographical features of the National Park consists of high mountains, including Doi Inthanon, which is the highest mountaintop in Thailand (2,565 meters above the sea level), followed by Doi Huamodluang (2,330 meters above the sea level). Doi Inthanon is the source of many rivers including Mae Klang, Mae Pakong, Mae Pon, Mae Hoi, Mae Ya, Mae Chaem, Mae Khan, and being part of Ping River, where the Bhumipol Dam is situated and generating the electrical power.Since the National Park is located at 2,565 meters above the sea level, it has cold weather and high humidity throughout the year, particularly on the top of the National Park. In winter, the temperature at the National Park is below 0ac. And in summer, despite hot weather in central Chiang Mai and nearby districts, it is still freezing on the top of Doi Inthanon and tourists should be prepared with thick clothes.

       How we became the village of wood-carving For forty years, the art of wood carving has been passed down from generation to generation. During BE 2500-2505, the first three villagers, Pho Naan Daeng Puntusa, Pho Jaima Inkaew and Pho Huen Puntusart had left Baan Tawai to learn how to carve at Nomsilp, a manufacture shop on Wua Lai Street, Chiangmai Gate. They brought their new found skill back to Baan Tawai. The village gradually became renowned for its woodcarving expertise.Just about an hour outside of Chiang Mai, in Hangdong District, is Baan Tawai village, a community known for its wood sculptures.
